Prof. Dr. em. Jürgen Kalus

who died on March 23, 2020.

Jürgen Kalus died at the age of 85 years. From 1975 until his retirement in 2000 he held the chair of Experimental Physics I. During his many years of service he had a decisive influence on the establishment and development of the University, the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science and the Department of Physics at the University of Bayreuth.  He was highly esteemed as a reliable colleague and for his balanced and unwavering judgement. In his research he was internationally recognized and for decades he maintained close cooperation with colleagues from Germany and abroad.
