Your goal: to teach physics at secondary school

The study prepares for the activity as physics teacher at secondary schools.

On the basis of in-depth specialist knowledge teachers organize the learning processes of their pupils. In addition to physics, you study another subject (mathematics or computer science), the two subject didactics and general educational science. The program ends after 7 semesters with the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). You will receive the admission to the first state examination and grades from the studies will be included in the grade of the state examination. An overview is given in the information brochure „Lehramt Ralschule in Bayreuth studieren“ (German only).

Study Course

No matter if you combine physics with mathematics or computer science, the contents of the subject and subject didactics are the same. You deal with classical experimental physics (mechanics, electricity, heat, optics) as well as the basic calculation methods of physics. Labs and exercises help to apply and deepen the learned content. In the third year, you receive an overview of modern physics, i.e., the physics of atoms, molecules, solids and elementary particles. In the didactics of physics you deal with the question of how physics lessons can be conceived, which methods and media are used, how experiments are presented, and how concrete teaching projects can be planned and analyzed.

Proposal for the course of the study

Details about the individual lectures can be found in the module handbook

Laboratories and Internships

In addition to the experimental physics laboratories that take place at the university, you also complete internships outside the university during your studies, some of them ideally before starting you studies. All information can be found on the pages of educational science.

Electives

n the elective area you can choose an lecture worth at least 3 credit points from the subject areas of physics. The following lectures are recommended: Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics, Programming Languages, Biophysics A, Technical Physics A: Measurement Methods, Modern Optics, Process Computers and Electronics, Computation, Crystallography.
