Advanced Practical Course in the bachelor's and the master's programme

Content

The advanced practical course is divided into a course for the students in the bachelor's programm and a course for students in the master's programme in physics. In lab courses for the bachelor's programme, students learn about some classical experiments and effects as well as modern investigation and analysis methods. In the lab course for the master's programme, the chairs of experimental Physics offer experiments covering topics and methods from the chairs' current research.

In the bachelor's programme´s course (PPB) the following experiments are offered:

  • Electron Spin Resonance
  • Laser
  • Fuorier Spectroscopy
  • alpha/gamma Spectroscopy
  • Solar Cells
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio
  • Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy
  • Scanning Force Microscopy
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy
  • Raman Spectroscopy
  • Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer
  • Doppler-free Spectroscopy on Rubidium
  • Chaos

The laboratory course takes place before the beginning of the 5th semester as a block course and generally involves the performance of five experiments.

The laboratories with experimental setups are located in building B11 and in buildings NWI, NW II and BGI.

The following experiments are offered in the master's programme´s course (PPD):

  • Single Molecule Spectroscopy
  • High Resolution Molecular Spectroscopy
  • X-ray Diffraction
  • Thin Film Processing Techniques and Film Homogeneity
  • Photon Correlation Spectroscopy
  • Lightsheet Microscopy
  • Biomolecular Bonding
  • OLED
  • Nanoplasmonics
  • Scanning Tunneling Microscopy
  • Femtosecond Autocorrelation and Terahertz Spectroscopy

The laboratory course is offered in the summer semester and includes 5 experiments, which are performed at 2-week intervals throughout the semester. The experiments take place in the laboratories of the chairs of Experimental Physics.

Registration

To register, there will be a course available on the e-learning server. The courses are created one semester before the start of the actual laboratory course. Please note the registration deadlines mentioned there.
