Important information for first-year students in the winter semester 2021/2022

Here you will find up-to-date information that should make it easier for you to successfully start studying physics at the University of Bayreuth.


Introductory event on 18 October

This semester, there will again be an introductory event in the first week of lectures for all students in the bachelor's degree programme in physics and in the teacher training programmes in physics in presence on site::

  • Monday, 18 October 2021, 10.15am-11.00pm in Lecture Hall H 18 (Building NW II)

Introductory Mathematics Course

On 11-15 October 2021, an Introductory Mathematics Course will be offered for first-year physics students, including teacher candidates.

The course covers the mathematical basics of the basic lectures in experimental physics including the physics lab courses. The aim is to bring previous knowledge to a uniform level in order to facilitate the start of studies.

This course is not compulsory. However, it is strongly recommended to attend the course (especially for those who feel unsure in Mathematics).

The course includes lectures and exercises, which can again take place in presence!

The lectures will take place in the morning from 8.15am to 11.45am at:

  • Lecture Hall H 18 (Building NW II)

The exercises will take place in the afternoon from 1.00pm to 4.00pm in four groups:

  • Lecture Hall H18 (Building NW II)

  • Lecture Hall H16 (Building NW II)

  • Lecture Hall H9 (Building NW I)

  • Lecture Hall H20 (Building NW II)

Registration is not required. The lecture (not the exercises) will also be broadcast online.

The COVID 19 pandemic and your studies

We would like to draw your attention to the following regulations:

  • 3G-Scheme (Vaccinated, recovered, tested): Currently or from an incidence 35 per 100,000 inhabitants in the city of Bayreuth, the buildings of the university may only be entered by students and guests who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested.
  • In addition, there is an obligation to wear a medical mouth-nose covering (or FFP2 mask) in all buildings and rooms.
  • We also ask you to observe the applicable distance and hygiene measures.
  • Please note that according to the current status, only 50% of the seats in the lecture halls and seminar rooms may be used, i.e. every 2nd seat must remain free.
  • For contact data collection in the lecture halls, seminar rooms and also in the refectory, please scan the posted QR codes with your smartphone.
